Ironton Metropolitan Housing Authority

The mission of the Ironton Metropolitan Housing Authority is to assist low-income families and individuals with safe, decent, and affordable housing opportunities as they strive to improve the quality of their lives.

Our Programs

Through the Ironton MHA, you have access to two major subsidy programs:

Low Rent Public Housing

Riverhills Apartments Site A

Public Housing in Ironton, Ohio, is a federally funded program utilizing properties owned and managed by IMHA. IMHA is an entity of local government designed to benefit eligible low to moderate income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. IMHA owns and maintains 249 Public Housing rental units located in Ironton. The complexes include Christensen House, Harriette Lewis Apartments, Riverhills Apartments Site A, Site B, Site C, Site D, and Site E. Efficiency apartments, one, two, three, four, and five bedroom units are available, but there is a waiting list for all bedroom sizes.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

Ironton Metropolitan Housing Authority operates the Housing Choice Voucher Program, formally known as Section 8, under a contract with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Lawrence County, Ohio. Ironton Metropolitan Housing Authority currently has a baseline of 88 vouchers available. The Housing Choice Voucher Program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families to choose privately owned rental housing utilizing private landlords.
